The reviews of this Coppola beach resort are mainly good to excellent, but some people feel that the actual state of the resort and the promotion of the resort differ to much. The resort is promoted as a very luxury resort, partly through the founding names of the Coppola family, but according to these guests the resort is not making up the promises.

This beach location was demolished by the hurricane Iris in 2001. Just before that Francis and Eleanor Coppola had acquired this beach location. This hurricane gave Francis and Eleanor Coppola the possibility to rebuild and completely recreate this location into the beach resort it is now. The Coppola Resorts, which are all owned by the Coppola family, also consists of the Blancaneaux Lodge in the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve in the Cayo district of Belize and the La Lancha Resort which is not far from Tikal in Guatemala.
