Northern Highway in Belize

The Northern Highway in Belize is an 85 mile long route running from Belize City, through Orange Walk Town and Corozal Town to the border with Mexico at Chetumal. The Northern highway replaced the Old Northern Highway.

The road conditions of the Northern Highway in Belize is generally very good, with all of the road being paved. This road can be driven using a normal vehicle. Petrol availability is good, with some stations offering 24 hour service. 
 
Throughout the spring season, you will encounter slow-moving trucks when the suger cane is being harvested. Be prepared for longer journey times during this season, as overtaking is not always possible. 
 
For drivers of 4×4 vehicles, side-roads towards Aguas Turbias can be reached. You can enjoy the sights of Corozal Bay, which has beautiful azure waters, from the Northern Highway.
