Blue Marlin Beach Resort at South Water Caye, Belize

Blue Marlin Beach Resort has a casual barefoot atmosphere on its location at the private island South Water Caye, where there are a diversity of options for watersports, snorkeling just of the island and diving at 3 to 10 minutes offshore.

The Blue Marlin Beach Resort is located at the north side of the island on 4.5 acres. The distance from this resort to Dangriga on the mainland is 14 miles. The resort has a restaurant, Charlie's Restaurant & Bar, which is offering local and international cuisine, and a giftshop, the Macaw Gift Shop. 
 
The Blue Marlin Resort is operating as a PADI Dive Resort for over 20 years. Dive trips are operated with a maximum group of 4 to 8 people. As a PADI Dive Resort the resort is offering PADI Certifications as well as Discover Scuba Dive lessons for beginners. In the reviews of the resort some people are saying that the diving at this resort is not safe.


Other possible activities include kayaking around the island, lounging in one of the different available spots such as a hammock or relaxing with a Sunshine Signature Massage on the beach. 
 
The Blue Marlin Resort is offering a large variation of tours including visits to Mayan ruins such as Xunantunich, Caracol and Tikal (in Guatemala), visits to natural parks such as Mayflower Bocawina National Forest, Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary, the Blue Hole National Park and the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest, ziplining, cave tubing, a cultural Garifuna town tour through Dangriga and a visit to Marie's Sharp's Pepper Factory. These are all mainland tours. Keep in mind that the resort is located on an island and a mainland tour will include a lot of travelling with getting off the island and getting back to the island. Tours from the island are about snorkeling, fishing and diving. These tours include explorations of the South Water Caye Marine Reserve, the island Man-O-War Caye and the island Tobacco Caye. 
 
The accommodations at the Blue Marlin Resort include five private beach cottages, which are overlooking the Belize Barrier Reef, three island igloos and nine ocean-view rooms, which are located in two apartment buildings. All accommodations have an en suite bathroom with hot and cold water, airconditioning and fans. Mostly the reviews are excellent, but some people tell in the review to not dive at this resort, while it is not safe. Rates for this resort start at BZD 2,250 (USD 1,125) per person for 4 nights, based on double occupancy. 
 
The mainland office of this resort is located in Dangriga on the mainland of Belize at the Bonefish Hotel. 
 
Since October 1987 this resort is owned and managed by a Belizean family. The part of the island on which this resort is located has been an island escape for the family for some forty years, which is now shared with some guests.
